Product Description

The Hoshizaki KMS-2000MLJ is the largest head in the Serenity Series, a remote-cooled crescent cuber producing up to 1,861 pounds of ice per 24 hours from a 30-inch cabinet. It is a modular unit; the SRK remote condensing unit and a storage bin or dispenser are purchased separately.

Nearly a Ton a Day, Quietly

What separates this machine from other 1,800-pound-class icemakers is where the noise and heat go. The condensing unit sits outdoors, so a cafeteria, hospital or large restaurant can place a machine of this size in an occupied area rather than a mechanical room — which in turn removes the labor of carting ice from the back of the house. The head itself is a manageable 205 pounds shipping and 32-7/8 inches tall on a standard 30-inch bin footprint.

Evaporator and Ice

The freezing section uses Hoshizaki's double-sided KM Edge stainless steel evaporator, which forms ice on both faces of the plate and keeps the harvest cycle short — the mechanism behind getting this output from a 30-inch cabinet. Ice is the crescent cube: dense, hard, slow-melting, and it does not bridge in the bin, so scooping stays easy even at high fill levels.

Utilities and Electrical

Consumption is 7.1 kWh and 20 gallons of potable water per 100 pounds of ice at 90°F/70°F. The head draws 23.3 amps and needs a 30-amp maximum fuse — the heaviest electrical load in the Serenity line, so confirm panel capacity before specifying. As with the rest of the series, the head's 115V supply comes from the 230V SRK remote condenser rather than a separate circuit.
