Product Description

The Hoshizaki KMS-1402MLJ is a Serenity Series remote-cooled crescent cuber rated at up to 1,501 pounds of ice per 24 hours from a 30-inch cabinet. It is a modular head; the SRK-15J remote condensing unit and a bin or dispenser are ordered separately.

High Capacity Without the Noise Penalty

A conventional air-cooled machine making 1,500 pounds a day is a loud, hot appliance to have in an occupied space. The Serenity approach puts the condensing unit outdoors, so the room gets neither the compressor noise nor the heat rejection. In practice that lets a cafeteria, hotel or hospital site a very large icemaker near where the ice is actually used, instead of banishing it to a back room and moving ice by hand.

What the Numbers Say

Energy use is 4.3 kWh per 100 pounds of ice at 90°F/70°F with 21 gallons of potable water per 100 pounds — efficient for the capacity, and notably better per pound than the larger KMS-2000MLJ. The onboard refrigerant charge is only 7.1 ounces because the majority of the circuit sits in the remote condenser. The head weighs just 185 pounds shipping, which is light for a machine in this class.

Ice and Bin Pairing

Ice is Hoshizaki's crescent cube: hard, dense, slow to melt, and easy to scoop because it resists bridging. No storage is included; the head is designed for Hoshizaki's 30-inch bin range from the B-250 through the B-1300, so you can match storage to your peak service window rather than to your daily total.
