Product Description

The Hoshizaki KMD-705MWJ is a 30-inch water-cooled modular crescent cuber rated at up to 773 pounds of ice per 24 hours. It is a head unit only and mounts on a separately purchased storage bin or dispenser.

Why Water-Cooled at This Capacity

A 700-pound-class air-cooled head throws a substantial amount of heat into whatever room it occupies. Water cooling moves that heat out through a condenser water circuit instead, which keeps production from sagging in hot kitchens and mechanical rooms and eliminates the condenser fan noise. It also makes this model the practical answer where clearances are too tight for an air-cooled machine to breathe. Plan on a condenser water supply and a separate condenser drain in addition to the potable supply.

Efficiency and Evaporator Design

At 3.8 kWh per 100 pounds of ice at 90°F/70°F, this is the most efficient head in the KMD-705 family, and potable water use is 22.5 gallons per 100 pounds. Hoshizaki builds the freezing section around a double-sided stainless steel evaporator, which forms ice on both faces of the plate and shortens the harvest cycle relative to single-sided designs — part of why the water-cooled version reaches 773 pounds a day against the air-cooled model's 721 in the same cabinet.

Crescent Ice and Bin Pairing

The crescent cube is dense and slow-melting, packs tightly in a glass, and resists bridging in the bin. Because no storage is included, you choose bin capacity to match your peak service window rather than being locked into a fixed pairing — a hotel banquet operation and a quick-service counter can run the same head with very different storage.
