Product Description

The Hoshizaki KMD-705MRJZ is a 30-inch remote-cooled modular crescent cuber rated at up to 727 pounds of ice per 24 hours. The condensing unit lives outside the building; only the icemaker head occupies floor space indoors, where it mounts on a separately purchased bin or dispenser.

Remote Cooling in a 30-Inch Cabinet

Most remote-cooled icemakers start much larger. Getting a remote condenser on a 30-inch head means a small operation with a heat or noise problem — a bar behind a dining room, a hospital floor pantry, a hotel service alcove — can eliminate both without stepping up to a 36-inch machine. Nothing is exhausted into the room and the compressor noise leaves with the condenser. In exchange, installation requires a refrigeration line set and a qualified contractor, and the remote condensing unit is ordered separately.

Efficiency

Because the condenser is not fighting kitchen ambient, this is the leanest head in the KMD-705 family on water: 21 gallons of potable water per 100 pounds of ice at 90°F/70°F, with energy use of 4.4 kWh per 100 pounds. It out-produces the air-cooled KMD-705MAJ by a few pounds a day in the same footprint.

Ice and Storage

Output is Hoshizaki's crescent cube: hard, dense, slow to melt, and easy to scoop because it does not bridge in the bin. No storage is included. The head is designed to pair with Hoshizaki's 30-inch bin range as well as their DB-200H and DM-200B dispensers, so you can size storage to your peak service rather than your daily total.
