Product Description

The Hoshizaki KMD-705MAJ is a 30-inch air-cooled modular crescent cuber rated at up to 721 pounds of ice per 24 hours. It is a head unit: it mounts on a separately purchased bin or dispenser, which lets you match storage to your actual peak rather than buying a fixed combination.

Production Versus Footprint

721 pounds a day out of a cabinet only 30 inches wide is the reason this model shows up in busy restaurants, hotels and healthcare kitchens. It is meaningfully more ice than the 500-pound class in the same 30-inch width, so an operation that has outgrown a smaller head can usually step up without touching the bin, the wall opening, or the plumbing rough-in.

Air-Cooled Simplicity

An air-cooled condenser needs no condenser water line and no second drain, which keeps installation cost and ongoing water use down — 22 gallons of potable water per 100 pounds of ice at 90°F/70°F, all of it going into the ice rather than down a condenser drain. In exchange it rejects heat into the room and needs unobstructed clearance for airflow, so it belongs somewhere with real ventilation. Energy use is 4.75 kWh per 100 pounds at the same rating point, which is efficient for this capacity class.

Crescent Ice

Hoshizaki's crescent cube is its signature ice: a hard, slow-melting half-moon that fills a glass evenly and does not clump in the bin. It suits soda and cocktail service, blended drinks, and general food-service cooling. Stainless steel evaporators are used throughout the freezing section.
