Product Description

The Hoshizaki KM-730MAK is a 30-inch air-cooled Crescent Cuber head producing 756 pounds of ice per 24 hours on R290 natural refrigerant. It is the highest-output machine in the MAK range that still runs from a 115V circuit, which puts it in an unusual position for its size.

756 pounds a day, 12.3 amps, 115 volts

That current figure is the most striking number on the spec sheet. Hoshizaki's older 650-pound slim-line machine draws 15.2 amps at 115V; this one makes over 100 pounds more per day on 12.3. The efficiency of the R290 circuit is doing the work — the unit is rated at 4.1 kWh per 100 pounds of ice at 90/70 conditions, materially better than anything in the previous generation at this output. It is hardwired at the site on a 20 amp maximum fuse.

Low cabinet, 30-inch footprint

At 26 inches tall the head keeps the finished stack low enough for a comfortable reach into the bin and clear of overhead obstructions. It mates with the BD-500SF bin, the DB-200H and DM-200B dispensers and the IBD30 for self-serve. Ultrasonic bin control handles the fill cut-off, and CleanAssist keeps the cleaning cycle to about an hour.

R290 refrigerant and ice

The sealed system carries 10.6 ounces of R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant, outside the HFC phase-down. Ice is Hoshizaki's crescent cube — flat one face, curved the other — which packs a glass without bridging and melts slowly. Water use is 22 gallons per 100 pounds of ice at 90/70.
