Product Description

The Hoshizaki KM-530MAK is a 30-inch wide, 22-inch tall air-cooled Crescent Cuber head making 545 pounds of ice per 24 hours on R290 natural refrigerant. It delivers essentially the same output as Hoshizaki's 22-inch KM-522MAK but in a wide, low cabinet — a different shape for a different installation problem.

Wide and low instead of narrow and tall

The 22-inch height is what distinguishes this machine. Stacked on a 30-inch bin or a dispenser, the finished assembly stays low enough to work under overhead cabinetry, a soffit or a low ceiling, and low enough that staff can reach into the bin comfortably. Where the ceiling is not the constraint but the wall length is, the slim 22-inch models are the better answer; here it is the reverse.

R290 refrigerant, 115V supply

The sealed system carries 5.3 ounces of R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant, which keeps the machine clear of HFC phase-down schedules. Electrically it is straightforward: 115V single phase, 10.7 amps, 20 amp maximum fuse, three wires including ground, hardwired on site. Energy use is 5.3 kWh and water use 25 gallons per 100 pounds of ice at 90/70 conditions.

Crescent cube ice and pairing

Ice forms in Hoshizaki's crescent shape, which packs densely in a glass, resists bridging in the bin and melts slowly in a drink. The head mates with the BD-500SF bin, the DB-200H and DM-200B dispensers and the IBD30 for self-serve installations.
