Product Description

The Hoshizaki KM-301BWJ is the water-cooled sibling of Hoshizaki's 30 inch self-contained crescent cuber, making up to 265 lb of ice per 24 hours into a 100 lb built-in bin. It exists for rooms where an air-cooled machine cannot reject its heat: tight equipment closets, basement bars, and kitchens already fighting their own ambient load.

Why water-cooled

An air-cooled condenser dumps its heat into the room it stands in, and in a confined space that heat comes straight back into the machine as reduced capacity and longer cycles. A water-cooled condenser sends it down the drain instead. The trade is a condenser water supply and drain to plumb, and the water those carry, against a machine that holds its rating in a room where an air-cooled unit would derate.

Efficiency at the meter

Moving the heat to water also lowers the compressor's work. At 90/70 conditions this machine uses 4.9 kWh per 100 lb of ice, against 7.1 kWh for the air-cooled KM-301BAJ, and 20 gallons of potable water per 100 lb for ice production. Condenser water is separate from that figure and should be budgeted with your mechanical engineer.

Crescent cube ice

Crescent cubes are half-moons with a flat face. They stay loose in the bin rather than fusing into a block, so the full 100 lb is usable, and their solid form melts slowly in the glass. The bin opening is ADA compliant. The unit is cord-connected on a NEMA 5-15 plug with a 6.5 ft cord.
