Product Description

The Hoshizaki KM-1900SRJZ is a remote-cooled Crescent Cuber head rated at 1,933 pounds of ice per 24 hours. The condensing unit lives outdoors or on the roof rather than inside the cabinet, which is why this is the version specified when the ice machine has to sit somewhere that cannot absorb its heat.

Remote condensing and what it buys you

An air-cooled machine of this size rejects a serious heat load into whatever room it occupies — 24,200 BTU/hr in this case. Moving the condenser outside sends that heat outdoors instead, which takes the load off the building's air conditioning, drops noise in the service area to almost nothing, and lets the head go in a bar back or a finished front-of-house space. The cost is a refrigeration line set and a mechanical contractor at install time.

Highest output in the single-phase 1,900 class

At 1,933 pounds a day this is the top of Hoshizaki's single-phase 1,900-class range, drawing 15.9 amps at 208-230V on a 30 amp maximum fuse. Four conductors including ground are required; if the site has no neutral, Hoshizaki specifies the HS-5030 transformer kit. It is ENERGY STAR qualified at 3.9 kWh per 100 pounds of ice at 90/70 conditions, using 19 gallons of potable water per 100 pounds.

Crescent cube ice and stacking

Double-sided stainless steel KM Edge evaporators form the crescent cube, a shape chosen by beverage operations because it packs a glass without bridging and melts slowly. This is a head only and takes a separate bin; two heads stack on one bin when a single machine cannot keep up.
