Hoshizaki KM-1601SWJ water-cooled stackable crescent cube ice machine head unit

Product Description

The Hoshizaki KM-1601SWJ is the water-cooled build of the 48-inch stackable Crescent Cuber and the highest-output machine in the family, producing approximately 1,660 pounds of ice per 24 hours. It is also the most efficient: 3.3 kWh per 100 pounds, the lowest figure Hoshizaki publishes across the 1,600-pound stackable range.

Water cooling at maximum output

At 1,660 pounds a day the heat a machine rejects becomes a building problem, not just a machine one. Water cooling sends that heat into the water circuit instead of the room, so the unit holds its rating in an equipment space that an air-cooled machine of the same capacity would steadily overheat — and it does so without the outdoor line set and remote condenser that the remote-cooled alternative requires. The trade is water consumption at 19.7 gallons per 100 pounds of ice, plus a condenser supply and drain that belong in the site plan before the machine is ordered.

Stackable, with KMEdge evaporators

The 27-3/8-inch cabinet is short by design so a second identical head can sit on top of it, taking site output past 3,300 pounds a day on the same footprint and bin line. Hoshizaki's efficient double-sided KMEdge stainless evaporators harvest from both faces to keep the cycle short, and crescent ice interlocks loosely rather than packing, so a bin at this volume still pours and scoops instead of freezing into a block. Bins are purchased separately, from the B-800 through the B-1650.
