The Hoshizaki KM-1601SRJZ is a 48-inch remote-cooled stackable Crescent Cuber producing 1,640 pounds of ice per 24 hours. Stack two and the same footprint delivers more than 3,200 pounds a day — the top of Hoshizaki's single-machine-wall capacity range, and the configuration large hotels and hospitals reach for when ice demand is measured in tons.

ENERGY STAR qualified at 3.96 kWh per 100 lb

This is the most efficient machine in the 1,600-pound stackable group. Remote condensing puts the compressor and condenser outdoors, so the head never fights its own waste heat and never adds to the building's cooling load, and the resulting 3.96 kWh per 100 pounds earns ENERGY STAR qualification. Water use is correspondingly low at 17.6 gallons per 100 pounds. Installation requires a refrigeration line set and a separately purchased remote condensing unit, and the HS-5030 transformer kit where no neutral is available.

Stackable head, crescent ice

At 27-3/8 inches tall the cabinet is built to be stacked, so growth is vertical rather than a new installation. Crescent ice interlocks loosely instead of packing solid, which is what keeps a bin usable at this output — the ice pours and scoops rather than bridging into a block that has to be broken up each morning. Bins are purchased separately, from the B-800 through the B-1650.
