Hoshizaki KM-1601SAJ3 air-cooled stackable three-phase crescent cube ice machine

Product Description

The Hoshizaki KM-1601SAJ3 is the three-phase build of the 48-inch air-cooled stackable Crescent Cuber, producing 1,513 pounds of ice per 24 hours. Three-phase service is the reason to specify it: current draw falls to 12.9 amps against the 15.9 amps the single-phase machine needs, which frequently decides whether a unit of this size can be added to an existing panel at all.

Three-phase, air-cooled, stackable

This configuration keeps the installation simple in a way few 1,500-pound machines do. There is no condenser water loop to run and no outdoor line set to install — air cooling handles heat rejection inside the cabinet, so the site needs an electrical connection, water and drain, and adequate airflow around the machine. The 27-3/8-inch cabinet height then allows a second identical head to be stacked on top, taking site output past 3,000 pounds a day without widening the machine wall. Bins are purchased separately, from the B-800 through the B-1650.

Crescent cube with KMEdge evaporators

Crescent ice interlocks loosely rather than freezing into a solid mass, so at this volume it still pours from a bin and moves through a scoop instead of bridging and requiring staff to break it up. Hoshizaki's double-sided KMEdge stainless evaporators harvest from both faces to keep the cycle short, holding energy use to 4.4 kWh per 100 pounds.
