Product Description

The Hoshizaki KM-1601MRJ is a 30-inch remote-cooled Crescent Cuber producing up to 1,594 pounds of ice per 24 hours — close to 800 pounds an hour at peak from a cabinet only 30 inches wide. It is specified with the URC-22F remote condensing unit and is aimed at the operations that consume ice continuously: hotels, hospitals, high-volume restaurants and beverage-heavy quick service.

Remote condensing at 1,600 pounds a day

A machine producing this much ice rejects a great deal of heat. Putting the condensing unit outdoors keeps all of it out of the kitchen — no added HVAC load, no compressor noise in the space, and none of the ventilation clearance an air-cooled cabinet of this capacity would need around it. The indoor head is a 30-inch, 41-5/8-inch-tall cabinet and nothing more. A refrigeration line set and the remote condensing unit are part of the installation and purchased separately.

Crescent cube, CycleSaver and EverCheck

Crescent ice interlocks loosely rather than freezing into a block, so at 1,600 pounds a day it still pours from a bin and moves through a scoop instead of bridging solid — the difference between a bin that works and one staff have to break up each morning. CycleSaver design shortens the harvest cycle to hold energy use to 4.35 kWh per 100 pounds, and the EverCheck alert system surfaces developing faults before they stop production, which is what matters on the machine an operation cannot do without.
