Product Description

The Hoshizaki KM-1340MWJ is the water-cooled build of the 30-inch Crescent Cuber, producing 1,323 pounds of ice per 24 hours. It is the configuration for high-volume sites where a 1,300-pound machine has to live in a space that cannot take its condenser heat, and where running remote refrigeration lines outdoors is not practical.

Water cooling and the lowest energy figure in the family

Rejecting heat into the water circuit instead of the room stops the compounding problem an air-cooled machine creates in a tight equipment space, where the unit warms the room and the warmer room then costs it capacity. The KM-1340MWJ holds its rating in those conditions and runs at 3.6 kWh per 100 pounds and 11 amps — the lowest of the 1,300-pound 30-inch group. The trade is water use at 17.8 gallons per 100 pounds of ice, plus a condenser supply and drain in the site plan. If no neutral is available at the site, the HS-5030 transformer kit is required.

Crescent cube in a 30-inch cabinet

Crescent ice interlocks loosely rather than packing solid, so it flows out of a bin and through a scoop instead of bridging into a mass that has to be broken up by hand — a real daily saving at this volume. The head mounts on a separately purchased Hoshizaki bin, from the B-500 through the B-1650, so storage is matched to the operation rather than fixed at purchase.
