Product Description

The Hoshizaki KM-1301SAJ is a 48-inch air-cooled Crescent Cuber producing 1,365 pounds of ice per 24 hours. The S in the model number is the important part: this is a stackable head, only 27-3/8 inches tall, designed so a second identical unit can sit on top of it and double site capacity to roughly 2,700 pounds a day without widening the machine wall.

Stackable capacity planning

Most operations that outgrow an ice machine cannot find more floor. Specifying a stackable head means the expansion path is vertical and uses the same bin line and the same footprint — a second head, not a new installation. It is the difference between planning for growth and re-engineering for it, and it is why the 48-inch S-series is the standard answer for hotels, hospitals and high-volume restaurants. The bin is purchased separately, with the factory listing the B-800 through the B-1650.

Crescent cube and the dual-sided evaporator

Crescent ice interlocks loosely rather than packing solid, so it flows out of a bin and through a scoop instead of bridging into a frozen mass that has to be broken up by hand — a daily operational difference at this volume. Hoshizaki's double-sided KMEdge stainless evaporators harvest from both faces to shorten the cycle, holding energy use to 4.27 kWh per 100 pounds on a machine of this size.
