Product Description

The Hoshizaki F-822MAK is a current-generation slim-line flaker that produces 750 pounds of soft flake ice per day from a 22-inch-wide air-cooled cabinet. Flake ice packs around irregular shapes and drains as it melts, which is why it is the working shape for seafood cases, produce misting, salad bar wells and blast chilling. The head unit mounts on a separately purchased Hoshizaki bin, with factory compatibility spanning 250 to 1,650 pounds of storage.

R290 natural refrigerant and ENERGY STAR performance

This is the newer K-generation platform, and the change that matters most is the refrigerant: R290 hydrocarbon with a charge of only 5.3 ounces, replacing the multi-pound HFC charges of earlier flakers. R290 has negligible global warming potential, which puts the machine on the right side of refrigerant phase-down rules that are steadily tightening for commercial ice equipment. It is also ENERGY STAR qualified at 3.95 kWh per 100 pounds, so the specification survives most utility rebate and green-building reviews without an exception request.

Ultrasonic bin control and hourly self-cleaning

Ice level is read ultrasonically rather than by a mechanical paddle or thermostat, so the machine restarts promptly as ice is drawn down and stops cleanly when the bin is full — fewer nuisance shutdowns and less over-run in a busy service window. Advanced CleanCycle24 flushes the water circuit automatically each day, slowing scale build-up between manual cleanings, and the auger rides on greaseless bearings so there is no lubrication step in the maintenance routine.
