Product Description

The Hoshizaki F-801MWJ is a slim-line modular flaker that turns out up to 680 pounds of soft flake ice per 24 hours from a cabinet just 22 inches wide. Flake is the shape operators reach for when ice has to hold shape around an irregular surface — seafood and produce displays, packed salad bars, blast-chilling and therapeutic applications — and this head unit produces it continuously rather than in harvest batches. It is a modular head only, so it pairs with a separately purchased Hoshizaki storage bin sized to the volume you actually move.

Water-cooled condensing for hot, enclosed rooms

The water-cooled condenser is the reason to specify this variant over its air-cooled siblings. Because heat is rejected into the water circuit rather than the room, the F-801MWJ keeps producing in tight equipment closets, basement prep rooms and kitchens that already run warm — locations where an air-cooled head loses capacity as ambient temperature climbs. It also runs quieter and puts no additional heat load on the space around it. The tradeoff is water use: 12 gallons of potable water per 100 pounds of ice at 90/70 conditions, so a condenser drain and adequate supply need to be part of the site plan.

Continuous auger production and CleanCycle24

Flake is extruded by an auger rather than frozen on an evaporator plate, which means output is steady and the machine responds quickly after a heavy draw-down. Hoshizaki builds the auger on greaseless bearings, removing a routine lubrication task and a common contamination point in food-contact ice equipment. Advanced CleanCycle24 flushes the water system automatically once every 24 hours, which slows mineral build-up between full manual cleanings and is a meaningful maintenance saver in hard-water regions.
