Hoshizaki F-422MAK 22 inch air-cooled modular flake ice machine, right side view

Product Description

The F-422MAK is the entry point into Hoshizaki's current 22 inch air-cooled modular flaker range, producing 485 lbs of flake ice per day on R290 natural refrigerant. It replaces the discontinued F-450MAJ.

R290 in a Small Machine

The charge here is just 2.8 oz of R290 — a natural hydrocarbon with a global warming potential in single digits, against several thousand for the R-404A used in the model it replaces. On a machine this size the small charge also simplifies the safety requirements that come with hydrocarbon refrigerants.

Advanced CleanCycle24 and Ultrasonic Bin Control

The machine cleans itself hourly under Advanced CleanCycle24 and reads bin level ultrasonically rather than with a mechanical paddle. Neither feature is common at this output. The ultrasonic sensor has nothing in the ice path to jam, and hourly cleaning is what keeps a small flaker's output from drifting as scale builds.

Compact Modular Format

At 22 inches wide and 22 inches tall the head is the shortest in the range, which matters when total stack height over a tall bin is constrained by a shelf or a ceiling. It pairs with B-series bins from the B-250SF up to the B-1650SS, ordered separately.
