Hoshizaki F-1022MAK 22 inch air-cooled modular flake ice machine, right side view

Product Description

The F-1022MAK is Hoshizaki's current 22 inch air-cooled modular flaker, producing 915 lbs of flake ice a day and replacing the discontinued F-1002MAJ. The headline change over the outgoing model is the refrigerant: R290, a natural hydrocarbon, in place of R-404A.

R290 Natural Refrigerant

R290 has a global warming potential in the single digits against several thousand for the R-404A it displaces. For any operator with sustainability reporting obligations, or specifying against future refrigerant phase-down rules, that is the reason this machine exists. Charge is 2 lbs 4.2 oz.

Ultrasonic Bin Control

Bin level is read ultrasonically rather than with a mechanical or thermostatic probe. There is no paddle to jam and no sensor sitting in the ice stream, so the machine stops and restarts on an accurate reading of actual bin level rather than on whatever happens to be piled against a switch.

Self-Cleaning and Auger Design

An automatic cleaning cycle runs without intervention and the auger uses greaseless bearings. Combined with a shorter, deeper cabinet than the outgoing F-1002 body — 22 by 24 by 26 inches — the machine is both easier to service and slightly tidier on the bin.
