Product Description

The Hoshizaki DCM-500BWK is the water-cooled version of Hoshizaki's 26 inch countertop cubelet machine, making and dispensing 610 lb of ice per 24 hours into a 40 lb built-in bin.

Why water-cooled

An air-cooled dispenser rejects its condenser heat into the room. In a servery, a nurses' station or an enclosed beverage alcove that heat has nowhere to go, and the machine loses capacity fighting its own exhaust. A water-cooled condenser sends the heat down the drain instead. The cost is a condenser water supply and drain to plumb; the benefit is a machine that holds its rating in a space where the air-cooled model would derate, and that does not add load to the room's air conditioning.

Efficiency

Water cooling also lowers the compressor's work. At 90/70 conditions the DCM-500BWK uses 3.85 kWh per 100 lb of ice, the lowest figure in this family, against 4.7 kWh for the air-cooled DCM-500BAK, and produces slightly more ice at 610 lb a day. Potable water for ice production is 12 gallons per 100 lb; condenser water is separate and should be sized with your mechanical engineer.

Cubelet ice and self-cleaning

Cubelet is soft compressed flake ice in a mini nugget form: chewable, void-free in a cup, and it takes on the flavour of the drink around it. The machine runs R290, a hydrocarbon refrigerant with very low global warming potential, on a 4.6 oz charge, and a self-cleaning cycle maintains the ice path between full services.
