The Hoshizaki DCM-500BAK-OS is the hands-free Opti-Serve version of Hoshizaki's highest-output 26 inch countertop cubelet machine: 597 lb of ice a day, a 40 lb bin, and sensor dispensing instead of a push button.

Touch-free where the traffic is heaviest

Sensor dispensing matters most exactly where use is highest, because that is where a shared button gets touched most. This is the combination for a hospital cafeteria, a university dining hall or a stadium concourse: enough production to keep up with continuous use, and no contact surface between the user and their cup.

Cubelet ice

Cubelet is compressed flake ice in a soft mini nugget. It chews easily, fills a cup without air gaps so drinks need less liquid, and absorbs the flavour of the beverage around it. In patient care those properties are the reason it is specified; in quick service they are the reason customers come back for it.

R290 efficiency

Running R290, a hydrocarbon refrigerant with very low global warming potential, on a 4.7 oz charge, this machine draws 6.7 amps and 4.7 kWh per 100 lb at 90/70. The R-404A generation it replaces drew 12.9 amps. A self-cleaning cycle maintains the ice path between full services. Air-cooled and cord-connected on a NEMA 5-15 plug behind a 20A breaker.
